Venetian plaster wall finish effect and polished plaster finishes were first developed in Italy many many years ago. In fact, the history of this recently revived decorative technique dates back as far as 1100 AD according to certain sources.

The terms themselves cover a wide range of different interior finishes which were traditionally applied by skilled craftsmen (the ancient version of our modern painters and decorators or DIY fanatics). Originally, venetian plaster or polished plaster effects would be formed by mixing marble dust or chips in order to create a distinctive rugged textured wall finish, and the finish would then be sealed with a layer of wax.

Whilst the technology and application has certainly developed since 1100 AD, the visual and textural splendour of the traditional Italian finish still remains. With Avko Interior paints, you can achieve the venetian plaster or polished plaster finishes you seek without the complications that people faced when the decorative technique was initially developed, and in a much shorter time too.

Best Products for a Venetian Plaster Paint Finish

We offer three different textured paints that can recreate the venetian plaster effect.

  • Madreperla - this range offers the most polished finish. It's a fine mix of pearlescent tones which shimmer and shine in the light.

  • Settevelli - our final range consists of pearly paints with striking gold and silver shades.

Whilst each range is unique, each and every single one is 100% water-based like all Avko Interior products, making sure that the products you use in your home are safe for you and for the environment.
